Quality fish for a good price

Tucked in a little plaza in Redondo Beach is a little restaurant called Bluesalt Fish Grill. Much like it’s competitor, California Fish Grill, their main entrée is grilled fish, but for Bluesalt fish Grill, “their food is little more gourmet,” as my cousin would say.  I absolutely agreed with her opinion. The wine list, the special seasoning for the fish and side dishes and even the free appetizer speaks fancy to me. Although the restaurant setting is very casual, the quality of food is definitely a notch better than California Fish Grill.

First we ordered off a menu with so many delicious options. We picked from a list of fish, then a rub that seasons the fish, and lastly 2 side dishes that goes with our meal.

STEP 1 Choose a fish: salmon fillet, red snapper, mahi mahi, ahi tuna (served rare), yellow tail, catfish, Hawaiian opakapaka, giani shrimp, tilapia, white fish, fijan opah

STEP 2 Choose a rub: smoky paprika & mustard butter, herb & garlic scented butter, chipotle – cilantro butter, Cajun & garlic scented butter, orange teriyaki sauce, thai dipping sauce, lime aioli sauce, peri peri spice rub, Jamaican jerk rub, lemon pepper rub, Cajun spice rub, smoky bbq rub

STEP 3 Choose 2 sides: coleslaw, French fries, rice, grilled corn w/ black pepper, spiced vegetable cous cous, garden salad w/ choice of dressing

For an additional price, you can order these sides: grilled zucchini, sweet potato fries, roasted rosemary potatoes, arugula & spinach salad w/ shaved parmesan and balsamic dressing, grilled mediterranean vegetables

I chose the yellow tail with the chipotle – cilantro butter, grilled corn w/black pepper and roasted rosemary potatoes.  My cousin chose the salmon filet with the Jamaican jerk rub, spiced vegetable cous cous and roasted rosemary potatoes.

We sat down at a little table with a fish decoration on it along with our number. A server came out with a free appetizer for us, a seafood cerviche with tortilla chips. YUM and fancy!  There was a sauce buffet with different unique sauces adding more flavors to your meal.  Our meal came out (see pictures below) and it was as delicious as it looks.

I can’t wait to go back and try their other fish options, tacos, clam chowder, and their list of wines! This place is casual and great for the whole family or a little date with your husband in the evening. Menchis Yogurt is next door, so you can top your meal off with a little frozen yogurt treat.
