Though it may not be the most obvious place to bring your toddler or young children for a day trip, it was the best thing I ever did. Not only was I completely inspired by experiencing the artwork, the kids absolutely loved it. Creativity flowed from both the outdoor space and indoor exhibits.

As low as 3% down payment for purchase loan

Posted on

mortgage-lending20% down payment seem impossible when homes in Southern California range from $300K and up for a 3 bedroom, but how about 3% down payment? There are 3 loans out there right now that I know of that offer 3% down payment.

OPTION 1: FHA loan offered by the Federal Housing Administration that offers buyers to purchase a home under FHA loan amount limits. FHA loans are offered through the major banks like Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America. If you stop by your local branch, they carry the FHA loan product and you can get a loan approval through them.

On the Move

south-bay-beachesLuck has it that my family moves every 2-3 years. Two years ago, my family moved from Orange County, CA to Torrance, CA because the location of the South Bay is easily assessable to all the local freeways like the 405, 110, 91. It made sense to shorten our commute to work in LA by moving closer to my husband job.

Whenever I move to a new city as a parent, I’m always on a look out for the local community activities. First place I hit, the nearest public library. Every city has their community program flyers and brochures laid out at the libraries for the public’s use. When I moved to Torrance, I found a book called SEASONS. It’s the recreation and public class guide. Within the SEASONS booklet, you’ll find classes for children and adults which include sports, swim and toddler classes all for affordable prices.

Want to be a FREEBIRDS FANATIC?

Posted on

first-25My cousin Carol asked me, “Want to camp out in front of Freebirds World Burrito overnight to win 1 year of burrito?”

I said, “YES! OF COURSE”

Before the camp out, Carol picked me up and drove me to the Freebirds near USC which marks the first time I’ve ever tasted a Freebird burrito. Knowing that the ingredients were grass fed beef, all natural chicken, fresh produce and ingredients made fresh every morning, I felt the LOVE behind the burrito already.

Teaching them young to BUILD and CREATE

build-and-grow-clinic

One of the most fulfilling things about being a parent is that you can mold and teach your child to be anything they want to be. That process starts young and there are many community businesses that help with that development.

Lowe’s is not a store just for grown-ups, but it offers “BUILD and GROW” clinics FREE to the public for kids every other Saturday at 10am. Kids are given an apron and a little patch each time they finish a project. It’s a great way to teach your kids that they can build and create what they want with the materials given. It also builds self-esteem as they see the work of their hands.

For any stay home moms that need to give your child a creative outlet, check out Lakeshore Learning Store free craft every Saturday. I visited the Carson location and it’s a great resource store for parents and teacher looking for educational tools. Every Saturday, a few craft tables are prepared with the materials for the project of the day. You can show up and a store staff will help you and your child learn to make a project together. I like that the craft time is from 11am – 3pm, and you can drop by anytime.

Sun, Sand, Beach

The cool breeze of May and the warmth of the sun mark the perfect conditions for some family time on the beach. What better than visiting Manhattan Beach, CA with a pit stop at the Roundhouse Aquarium at the end of the Pier.

Today, my brother and I took our kids to the Manhattan Beach and parked at the metered parking lot at the end of Manhattan Beach Blvd. It was only 25 cents for every 10 minutes of parking, so bring your quarters with you. I love parking at this lot because in just a 1 minute walk, you can get onto the sand. This location puts you right at the volleyball courts and toward the beach. It also puts you right on the boardwalk of the pier, which is a straight shot to the Roundhouse Aquarium.

Kids + Hammer + Nails = Day with Daddy!

Posted on

kids-workshop-logoI love free!  I also love it when it’s an activity for your kids and their dad.  This mommy is NOT HANDY and I do not like the hammer, nails or anything my boys like to do in their special man cave, THE GARAGE. (If you are a handy mom and reading this, bless you! You have a special gift) As for me, I will leave that COMPLETELY up to my husband to bring the boys to do their BOY/MEN activities.

So this is what I found, your local Home Depot offer a free Kids Workshop every first Saturday of the month. This activity is appropriate for 5 – 12 year olds. You arrive at home depot and you will be given the project kit for the day with instructions and the tools necessary to complete the project. Read the instruction and work away! The project will take from 15 minutes to 30 minutes, depending on how quickly your little one works.
