On the Move

south-bay-beachesLuck has it that my family moves every 2-3 years. Two years ago, my family moved from Orange County, CA to Torrance, CA because the location of the South Bay is easily assessable to all the local freeways like the 405, 110, 91. It made sense to shorten our commute to work in LA by moving closer to my husband job.

Whenever I move to a new city as a parent, I’m always on a look out for the local community activities. First place I hit, the nearest public library. Every city has their community program flyers and brochures laid out at the libraries for the public’s use. When I moved to Torrance, I found a book called SEASONS. It’s the recreation and public class guide. Within the SEASONS booklet, you’ll find classes for children and adults which include sports, swim and toddler classes all for affordable prices.

After doing some research from parent word of mouth, I found out that the preschool program within SEASONS is an awesome, inexpensive way for your child to attend preschool.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM

Prices quoted are for Torrance residents, refer to www.TorranceCA.GOv/9087.htm for non-residents pricing.

Option 1: Lollipop Tree cost only $135 for 2 days a week (5 weeks) from 9:00-11:30am

This class is for 3-4 year olds who are learning through a very engaging interactive environment. There will be art, music, pretend play and hands-on activities to expand their knowledge of the world around them. I’ve heard nothing by great things about this class and their teachers.

Option 2: Fun & Friends has 2 classes: M/W/F for $189 (5 weeks) & Tu/Th for $135 from 9:00-11:30am

Building from Lollipop Tree, this class will help children become familiar with a structured learning environment. Again raving review from parents about this class.

Option 3: Kinder Klass cost $189 for 3 days a week (5 weeks) from 9:00-11:30am

This class is to prepare your 4-5 year old for preschool. Children will learn skills that help them with the fundamentals learned in kindergarden. Many local parents with children in this class have all said that this class is great preparation for preschool.

There are so many fun classes like hip hop for kids, learn a music instruments, ballet and zumba for children/adults etc. Visit the website and take a look at the classes.  All you have to do to register for classes is by showing 2 proofs of Torrance residency and your ID to the Torrance Community Service Department (located next to Torrance Library- 3031 Torrance Blvd, Torrance). Or reach them by phone (310) 618-2720.

Don’t miss out on getting some great classes! Enroll early.
