Beautiful evening tonight and Felix was given 4 tickets to the LA Galaxy home game against the Chivas. Emanuel loves soccer so we were excited to see 2 LA teams in one night and the best part is, they were playing at the Home Depot Center close to our house.
I’ve never seen a live soccer game so I didn’t know what to expect. We paid $15 for parking and that got us in a lot by Cal State Dominguez Hills. It was a little walk to pick up our tickets at will call, but it was such a nice day I didn’t mind at all. Emanuel was excited seeing other kids walking toward the stadium and we were ready for our first game. Got into the stadium, got our over-priced kettle corn and water and we went to our seats.
If your grandfather runs Little League, your father is a college baseball player and little league coach, does that mean the son will be a little league star? Still too early to say!
Following the Rodriguez legacy of die-hard baseball family, tee ball at 4 years old was set for Emanuel once the opportunity arise. Our little Eman was going to play tee ball for the first time. We signed up for the North Torrance Little League right away as we found that season starts Feb 1st 2012. Excitedly, we went out and bought new tee balls, baseball bats and baseball gear to get ready for the season. Our Team, THE CUBS.
Chivas at the Park L.A
Soccer parents! The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks is offering a great opportunity for your little soccer players to learn some technique from the pros.
Summer 2012 starting from March 24 – Sept 8, 2012, Chivas USA academy coaches are hosting at 90 minute soccer class for boys and girls from age 5 -15.
Ever wonder if it’s too early for your toddler to start learning sports? I remember when my son was 2 years old, we started him at South Coast Soccer in the Lil’ Kickers Toddler Program. It’s a soccer class for little ones starting at 18 mos. My husband and I were extremely impressed by this indoor soccer facility near the Torrance Library because it was clean, indoor and it looked extremely professional.
Indoor OPEN GYM Volleyball in Gardena
What better way to play a sport you love and make some new friends at a local church’s OPEN GYM Volleyball. Two weeks ago, my husband and I went to play at the open gym at Gardena Valley Baptist Church on Monday nights. The church opens its doors for anyone who would like to join them for an evening of friendly yet competitive indoor volleyball. Members of GVBC always get priority, but guests are always welcomed (limited space available)
Growing up in Southern California, it really surprised me that I didn’t pick up playing beach volleyball until post-college. For most of my after college years I spent on the beach playing sand volleyball, getting a tan. After having baby, not so much.
Recently, a friend of mine Chris Jahng runs a sports and social group called Prank Monkey in the South Bay, covering cities like Hermosa Beach and Long Beach. There is co-ed Flag Football, Bowling and Volleyball with occasional events at the local Baja Sharkeez and Panama Joe’s. It’s been so much fun to be outat the beach again. There is something special about being able to be athletic and connecting your hand to the ball and getting it over the net. Nothing like it! If you want to get in on the action, all levels are welcome; check out the website prankmonkey.org and sign up with Chris.
